Short version: Cove uses no advertising or tracking cookies, so there's no cookie banner. We only store what the service needs to work.
What we store
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in. It's set only when you sign in and is never used for anything else.
- Your encrypted vault, kept in your browser's storage, holding your keys and a local copy of your chats so they open instantly. It's locked and never leaves your device unencrypted.
- Small preferences, such as your light or dark theme and, for a Cove Frame, its pairing.
What we don't use
No analytics, advertising, social media or other third-party cookies or trackers.
Clearing it
You can clear this data in your browser settings at any time. Clearing it signs you out, and on that browser you'll need another device, your recovery kit or trusted contacts to unlock your messages again.
